Ball by thirteen-eightyone Ball by thirteen-eightyone
Just another random render that came out quite well.

Was experiment with different light setups and light-stage combinations .. had this on my desktop and it looked pretty cool so thought I'll share.

4 size as usual.

I don't want to insult, because I think this is awesome, but out of curiosity- is the resemblance to a pokeball intentional?

Of course! world of art will be an impossible place to be if artists were not allowed to be inspired :)

This wallpaper is 'heavily' inspired by the 'pokeball' .. infact I might update this to include the little black dot on the rim.

umm ... it depends. It is difficult because you have so many tools and objects (splines, nurbs, cameras, lights), too many layers of colour and texture (diffuse, specular, luminous, reflective, alpha), too many parameters to consider (shadows, radiosity, caustics, illumination, fall-off, reflection, refraction) and too many render options to play around with.

The biggest hurdle for me is the cost of these softwares and plugins + time it takes to render stuff (an interior shot can take upto an hour with medium settings)

Having said that, there should be no reason why you shouldn't be able achieve all this if you have the desire and motivation to learn! all the best!
